A fine day for adventure

Added a new scenario, short and sweet. The reward, our first bit of armor. Scavenger feat will help in securing it, and sharp eyes to go with it.

Who will be the first to grab it?

Researcher / Zephyr Updates

As everyone can plainly see, Nuku and I have been expanding the game with the new Researcher scenario and Zephyr added to the mix.  The credit costs and rewards are still in flux at the moment, so please let us know how these figures are working out for you.  I've made several significant changes and additions of my own to this, including:
  • Vial collection is now affected by Intelligence.
  • The Expert Researcher feat grants a second opportunity at vial collection if the first was unsuccessful.  It now also requires a researcher have an Int of 15+ or be level 9+.
  • The vial inventory (vint) has been separated from the regular inventory for easier reading.  It will only show if vials are available to the player
  • Zephyr will now buy vials from you!  Use vialsell <name>.
  • The option to sell vials appears in the vial inventory if in the presence of Larissa.
  • Zephyr will pay decreasing amounts for vials you've already sold them.  They'll take 5 of any type at most, and less from low level critters.
  • The nanite collector has been discounted down to 500, as Zephyr wants you out there collecting for them.
  • Pepperspray, at limited quantities, has been added to the Zephyr supply store.
  • Some more detail has been added to Zephyr and its contents.
Please let us know what you think of all the advancements we've been making to the game.  Without feedback, it's hard to gauge how to make these additions enjoyable, both from a reward and difficulty standpoint.

Equipment Progression

  • Larissa has a description now.
  • Equipment can, optionally, have a snippet to throw into your description.
    • Equipment descriptions can be inserted into different places. Put on a mask, it'll mention it just after it describes your face/head.
  • Equipment can now give damage resistance. Armor enabled!(no armor in the game yet, but adding some would be very easy, just have to figure out where we want to toss it in)

Equippable items.

I'm adding new hooks, as I've gotten fond of doing lately, expanding the game's abilities and flexibility.

Newest addition, equippable items. Not like weapons(which you can only have one wielded). Equippable items are a catchall for anything you may have at the ready, or worn.

I put one in the bunker for you, it's a face mask. It does nothing! But you can equip it, and use it again to take it off.

I put another in the Zephyr store. The nanite collector. Non researchers can buy this to start collecting vials, if they so desire. It does not give one drop of resistance, it just makes vials.

I was thinking of making equippable items add to your description. Thoughts?

Zephyr Optional?

So, thinking(dangerous!).

Maybe Zephyr shouldn't sprout up the moment you start the game, unless you're a researcher, OR, you take a related feat?

Do you feel their presence upsets the balance of things?

Do you like em?!

Fire thoughts below.

Zephyr Incorporated

We do what we must, because we can.

Zephyr Incorporated is here to give you a hand. You didn't think the researchers arrived randomly, did you? Zephyr Inc loves prodding and prying into mutant affairs, and if it's good enough for their researchers, well, by golly, they're going to set up shop there too.

You will be alerted to Zephyr's presence on starting a new game. You can spend the new currency, Freecreds, to purchase supplies from them. They currently sell water bottles and medkits(Finally a way to get more of those things).

Like, hate, questions, post, shout, we love hearing it.

Researchers

Alright. I've gotten some initial excited response from the new scenario and have been working to take those rough edges off of it.
  • Warning: The code is not perfect. Any other code that just reaches over and directly modifies your character will slip right on past researcher immunities. No one promised this anti nanite therapy was perfect anyway.
  • Update: ALL standard infection calls are now blocked by researcher.
    • It gets better. All intercepted infections are now given a chance to yield a vial for your own, optional, use later.
  • Vials can now be dropped(Which destroys them).
  • Doctor Matt reacts a little different(just a little) when he first meets you if you're a researcher. Kindred spirits!
Like, hate, questions, post below. We love hearing from you guys.

New Scenario

You can now enter the game as a researcher.

  • As a researcher, you do not get infected by losing battles.
  • Winning battles can yield(33% chance) infection vials.
  • You can use the infection vials to infect yourself, if you are so inclined.
  • Basic starting items.
Like, hate, confused? Fire questions below.

Sluts and Dominators take a break

Their victory transformation has been a sore in sides for a while, and they have been banished to other places. That is, they are gone, along with related content.

Hyperlinks, in my game?!

It's more likely than you think. But don't fear, here's your solution.

You are now asked, right at the start, if you want these guys. Click or type no and you see no more hyperlinks for the rest of the play session!

I hope this helps those who were negatively impacted by the mouse option to play while keeping it there for those of you who are enjoying the new UI.

Another day, another QoL adjustment

You can now save -anywhere-. Just click the save button next to the rest button. You'll get trixie's save word, bam. No need to trek back to the library when you want to take a break.

Good Morning

You expected hyper in the title, I wager. Sorry.

I fixed the bug that caused combat to abort out.(It was aborting at -1- hp instead of 0, big difference)

I also added happy links to most of the start routine.

As always, post bugs as you find them.

Hyper Sleep

Busy day, many bugs chased after, many more to chase tomorrow. The game is improving for it, so that's cool.

Before I go, the feat selection now uses numbers instead of names. Easier for all involved. Please post bugs as you find them, and I'll continue chasing with a net in the morning.

Combat Updates

Just to keep people in the loop.
  • Hitting enter in combat now counts as attack, allowing for easy basic combat.
  • Typing the first letter of a command is good enough.
  • Feat selection fixed, partial matching for the win.

Hyper Combat

Step one of two of combat revision is live and ready for testing.

The main combat menu is now link driven, but you can type it if you prefer it.

The item menu is, for now, the old menu. If the main combat menu proves bug free, we'll go ahead and convert the item menu over.

Try it, post feedback below.

More Alpha Fang

We have another addition to Fang, folks.  This time it's threesome fun for Alpha Fang.  He'll cycle through three variations of fun times with you and his bunny plaything.

Writer For Hire update:
  • NPC Request (0/10)
  • More Alpha Fang (2/2)
  • Hellhound (0/2)
Also, thanks to Wahn's diligence, a pile of typos will be disappearing and more will be cleaned up soon.

As well, Denise the Gryphoness should save and be restored properly.  You'll need to redo the last step of obtaining her if you're using an older save, but new saves will keep her.

Breakthrough

I have obtained mastery of player input, which means grabbing feats now works flawlessly, and we will be using this knowledge elsewhere.

It also means a pending update with a boatload of typo fixes is now live and ready to be played. Both web and installable versions are updated.

Fan Art? Yes please

A trio of pieces by dbd.

Hyper Relief

After working with the coder who made the Quixe engine(That's the thing that lets this run on a web page), an answer has been reached. Yes/No prompts have their links back, and they don't throw wild errors. Give it a shot, give feedback.

Enjoy!

Denise the Gryphoness Update

Completing another donation request that was made, I have created an update for Denise the Gryphoness. Just keep her around for a while and new stuff should start happening.

Writer for Hire Update:

Current projects:
  • NPC Request (0/10)
  • More Alpha Fang (0/2)
  • Hellhound (0/2)
Recently completed:
  • Joanna (8/8)
  • Mice (8/8)
  • More Fang (2/2)
  • Alpha Fang (4/4)
  • Denise (3/3)
If people would like more work done on new or existing content, this remains open. A $15 donation rewards you with an hour of work on a request of your choice. Make a donation and tell Nuku if you want slut rats, hyena content, Stables updates, a new beaver creature... some general request or theme and we'll work on it for the allotted time. Remember, a share of the funds raised goes to support the continued expenses for the game and for hardware/bandwidth improvements, as well assisting the poor writers who've been providing you with so much fun.

Hyper freaked

Ok, lesson learned. I tested it, it seems to be working right now.

Let me know if I'm horribly mistaken.

Hyperfail

Ok, I threw my head against the wall, but could not find a way to get links to play nicely with the yes or no questions. It just wasn't in the cards. I rolled that modification back. Sorry.

They do work nicely in a bunch of other places though, and if you have other ideas for spots to slip them in, call it out.

Hyperlinktastic

  • Added links for smelling and fucking when you're looking at people.
  • Big one, added links for 'yes' or 'no' when you're asked a consent question.
I'm not entirely sure that second one will work right. Try it, let me know.

Alpha Fang enabled

Completing another request that has been made, there is now an opportunity for Fang to turn the tables on you after building up some confidence after fucking Sandra during your threesomes. The big wolf's come quite a long way, from a quick NPC with simple sex to having numerous options, a variety of threesome scenes, and now a small character arc with alternate scenes. Thanks go out to everyone who's chipped in for him.

As you may have already noticed, we also have some new survey questions up to poll the players about what they want. Now we're starting to get into the meat of it, asking about what creature/NPC types you would like to see more of and what special features/qualities you're interested in seeing on creatures/NPCs. These are multiple choice questions, so pick a few you'd like most.

Also, I almost forgot to mention, two new events have been added to the Dry Plains area.

Fang and Joanna

...but not together. Back due to donation request, we have more for these two. Fang, you may recall, already has a special friend of his own, who can now come back for more. Joanna's gotten some work done as well, with some more conversation and little touch-ups. Oh, and some more sex, of course. :) There's been some minor reno done on the look of the bunker and the library, as well as a scad of scattered little fixes.

Update 4/17: Another big batch of content for Joanna's been added. More conversation. More sex. Options for those into multi-cock fun once you get her horny enough for them. She'll start to take an interest in any plant-like features you have after you sex her up a few times.

HYPER links

I've been busily slapping up hyperlinks all over the place. You can click on people to look at them. If they like chatting, a link appears for that afterwards. You can look at yourself with a click, check your inventory, use items, drop them, get them, even trade items if you look at your inventory next to someone who likes to trade.

Does it help? Are there other things you'd like to see? Let me know.

Also, some fan art, done by the talented Anymouse_68:

UI Improvement.

Took a little hacking, but here we are.

Give it a spin, you'll see on your command line that you now have clickable things to do.

Does it work well? Do you want MORE? Let me know. I could have most of the game clickable if it works out.

We want to know what you think, so four polls have been posted over there to the right. The first one's up for a day, the rest, a week, vote!

Writer for Hire Update

The writer for hire drive has gone exceptionally well! Stripes has made himself quite a nice little bit of cash, and the server target goal is almost met, and the game has more content than ever. Everyone wins. Got something you want added? Use the donate button below, then email from the email you specified there with what you're hoping for, and we'll make it work out. Every 15$ gets you one hour of work.

I should probably note, email is nuku@flexiblesurvival.com ( Also acceptable for paypal)

Outstanding Orders:
  • Wolf(0/2)
  • Joanna(0/8)
  • (0/10)

Play it at home

Have windows? Want to run Flexible faster?

http://www.scworlds.net/FI/flexible.msi

Here's your solution. Click, download, install, enjoy. It also will not have the same problems with saves becoming full, BUT, you still can NOT bring saves from one version to another(the word pixie is for that).

As we do new versions, I'll update that file, and you can grab it, and upgrade your installation. Easy peasy.

If anyone runs into problems, let me know.

Mouse Content

Completing another request, I have added some specially designed Mouse content to the RLD. It took a little overtime, but these small critters are very persistent and should provide the player with a new issue to try and deal with. As well, there's also a new 'pet' to be found. Perhaps she can be of assistance?

On the topic of pets, your pets will now gain dexterity slowly as they level up, allowing them to remain helpful as the game progresses and you fight more powerful, faster critters.

With April Fools long past, poor Testerbot has been taken by the military for analysis. It's been removed from play and reverted back to its demo mode for the new sex selection table.

More New Content

I have completed another burst of content and completed a few more requests:

Central Library: New new, big event in the High Rise District that has possible several solutions and some interesting new rewards, especially for players who finish big. This one was a longtime plan of mine and the reason I created by the Wolverine Guards in the first place.
The Horde: Another advanced new feat, this one for those who like to collect pets. It allows them to charge the enemy in a swarm.
Fang: More sex to be had, including a special surprise.

Sexy New Character

There's another sexy, new character added to the game. They're waiting at the Primary Lab with Dr. Matt to satisfy all your sexual needs. Go there and give them a try.

March Report

What time is it? Report time.

Flexible Survival novel sold over 70 copies!
Also still available from Smashwords: here

The writer for hire drive has been more successful than I could have dreamed. The singleplayers have proven they can chip in when they want to, and have done a bit less than half this month's donations. Much of that has gone to Stripes, who is awesome, and churning out incredible amounts of content for the singleplayer. We also got a new, shiny, server.

Lots of people having a good time over in multiplayer land. New server is performing nicely. You may not know, but the server actually hosts more games than just flexible. About a dozen other accounts exist, supporting other fledgling game developers who need a place to park their projects while they tinker at them. Community spirit is a great thing.

I don't even have words. Ok, here's a few. Thank you. This is the best month ever! The writer for hire will continue as is, giving Stripes some needed funds(Did you know he gets 66% of it?), and we'll push for continued excellence in the months ahead.
