Compiler Difficulties

While work on Flexible Survival and its projects has continued, we've run into an unusual series of compiler errors that has required our attention for the last several days.  We are investigating it to the best of our abilities, but its final resolution may be beyond us to solve on our own.  We've contacted the larger Inform community for assistance and will hopefully have better news soon.  We're providing them with details on our findings and the error logs we receive to help locate the core source.

The main gist of our problem seems to be our game somehow overtaxing the compiler, resulting in it adding garbage code to its temporary file and then choking on that same self-made junk.  This occurs during the earliest portions of the compile, before analysis of the code itself begins, so it's very unlikely the fault of anything we wrote - though I won't write that off entirely quite yet.

Fortunately, our Patreon funding has us already working on a revamp of the game into a newer, more modern engine, and this has pushed up the priority of that program.

Unfortunately, the easiest way to circumvent the problem is to remove some content from the game.  As we really don't want to do this, we're doing what we can to find proper solutions to this problem.  I have also taken steps to buy us some breathing space and get the recent commission work active.  At present, the only game content that's been shut off is Omio and her related material.  This was chosen because it was large and pretty much self-contained.  Some other extraneous code was also removed today which shouldn't significantly impact gameplay beyond removing the need for a password to the library computer.

Don't worry, loyal fans, we're not going to stop production on content because of this.  Any commissions we have in the works, Patreon rewards and all the rest will still go ahead as planned.  It may be a little trickier for us to get some material out, but we'll manage as best we can.

I guess there's only so much porn the Inform compiler can take before even it is sated and collapses in a sticky mess of its own making.

Ye Olde Update Tyme

I'm back to fill you all in on the new additions to the game.  Wahn's back to writing and while there's only a few new things from him at the moment, he assures me there'll be more on the way soon.  Blue Bishop's also got some material in and active, with loads more to come once the last bits are ready - he'll make a more complete announcement for all of that soon(tm).

Stripes:
Micaela: A new NPC you can meet in the Urban Forest, this Easter Bunny herm can be met when you come across a stash of her Easter Eggs.  There's a bit more to come, but her dialog, sex scenes and infection are up.
Sidney: Another new NPC, this soldier would like your assistance in making his dream of becoming a woman true.  Being a new multi-form NPC, the player has the choice of helping him take on one of three female forms.  Just the event and description stuff for now.  Post-tf sex'll come soon.
Lindsey: As a Patreon reward, some new scenes have been added for MPreg players.  These'll show up for Wolftaurs and other taurs once you've been suitably trained by the dom wolftaur.  MPreg succumb endings have also been added to the Wolftaur infection.
Alt-Vore: There are now special scenes for the player consuming a Bald Eagle, Hawkman or Gazelle.  Another general feet-first version has been added as well.  The Gazelle is a feet-first, so it'll only appear after you've had your first feet-first meal.
Alt-Vore: A fan (the commissioner of the above) wrote a pair of scenes for consuming a Messy Pig, varying based on player gender.  Since one's feet-first, they also won't appear until after that eating mode's unlocked.
Garrett: An option for a TG scene with defeated herm gryphons if you've got a bottle of gryphon cum.
Artwork: More creature art has been added to the game, courtesy of Anymouse1968.  They include: Bovine (F), Ewe, Mental Mouse, Pink Poodle, Bear and a Friendship Pony.  Also, some are that had been added but wasn't appearing has been fixed: Herm Latex Vixen and two versions of the Feline (F).

Wahn:
Gabriel: The tamed angel now has a sex menu, allowing for repeat fun with him.
Brutus & David: Lots of fun with those two in the works... just a little bit more time and the completed block will be put in the game.

Blue Bishop:
Yamato Dragons: Player victory and revamped endings added.  Fuller details to come when the rest of the material is rolled out.

Strongbird:
A massive load of hot, sticky typo corrections all across the board.

Bonus Hour Polls

Hi everyone, it's Wahn here. My left hand is at least partially functional again by now (after being broken last month), so it's time to get a move on with some bonus hour content for you all to enjoy. There are twelve of them to be decided on, so I've decided to make it two blocks of six - meaning that there will be two projects of your choice getting extra content.

Be sure to check out these polls on the forum and vote on both of them (you got 3 votes each):
Male-Centered Poll
Female-Centered Poll
They're sorted by theme so that hopefully everyone can vote for something they'll enjoy.

Post-FE Artz! and Content Update

As I've mentioned, I'd attended Furnal Equinox a few weeks ago.  And by this point, veterans of the game know what that means - crazy sketchbook ARTZ!  That's right, I'm back with another wave of FS-related artwork which can be viewed on my FA page.  They (and the other backlog pieces) will also be added to the game.  I'll put them into the Wiki for future storage as well.  My thanks as always goes out to the artists, both for their fine work and their permission to include these pieces in the game.

EDIT: I should also include the updates to the game itself as well.  Just because we're making a shiny new engine does not mean that we're not making new content.  With Wahn still healing and Blue Bishop prepping for another big release, it's a bunch of new content from me.  There's also been a lot of typo corrections by Strongbird and some more background tweaks and improvements by XinacS.  Thankfully I've seen a pretty productive period and I've almost completely cleared my queue, though there's already people lining up to make requests and the first wave of Patreon items will be coming as well.  If you're looking to donate for content, now's the time to do it.

Stripes:
Gryphon Milkman: This event character is now available to encounter as an NPC up in Qytat a'th Lundrues.  He's looking for some males, preferably gryphons, to have some fun with.
Hadiya & Gobby: You can now have some threesome scenes with the dominant hyena and her goblin manservant.
Alexandra: You'll now (finally!) be able to have sex with good Alexandra.  Just go talk to her after the capture of Master Mind and it should trigger.
Yolanda + Dom Icarus: Another threesome variation with the two dominant birds, this time focusing on bondage, suspension and a touch of orgasm denial.
Christy: A UB scene variation that got lost during the addition of other material has been located and restored back into the game.
Hunting/Exploring: A tweak's been made to the function of these actions.  You should no longer arrive at a new location and then be jumped by a random fight.  The odds of these fights was also tweaked.
New Art: As mentioned, the new artwork that I've been posting about lately has been added to the game.  There's also a couple of items from Anymouse_1968 which I'll be adding shortly.

Writer For Hire update:
  • Doran (0/3) - Blue Bishop
  • Alexandra (2.25/3) - Stripes
  • Gryphon Milkman (9/10) - Stripes
  • Brutus + David (30.5/40)  - Wahn
  • Orcs (0/6)  - Wahn
  • Gabriel (0/1)  - Wahn
  • Nermine (0/3)  - Wahn
  • Bonus Hours (0/12)  - Wahn

Engine Update

Hello all this is Daniel the engineer responsible for making the new engine.  Quick note about myself.  I'm a college student studying comptuer sciece right now.  I've never programmed in html5/javascript before, but I'm crazy good at computer science.  If you think that I shouldn't be the one in charge of this project due to my inexperience in html5 or your particular expertise in html5 then email me and I'm sure I can change your mind.  I started working on this game last thursday, and since then I've been working with nuku and a couple writers on the engine.  So a lot of progress has been made since the last update so I thought I would let you all know whats going on so far.

First of all for all you horny masses out there.  Exploration, navigation, and rudimentary combat have been added into the game.  You can explore in certain areas by clicking actions then explore.  You can discovery the mall by a certain event.  Have fun messing around with those, but sorry I'm not much of a writer so i doubt you'll find any of it too interesting.  Everything mostly involves just saying you got raped, which is my attempt at making it seem like the current game with minimal work.

Secondly for all you writers out there.  I'm able to parse all the inform inline statements and run them.  Which means on top of being able to do that, most of the execution logic for all the inform parsing/execution code is in the game i just haven't pieced it together yet.  Also I have the ability to run most of the inform code i just can't parse it in order to execute but baby steps.  As for what you need to do to get your old content into my game, most likely nothing.  I believe the only things that I can't just parse in will be commands that don't have any hyperlinks attached to them and definitions.  99% of the inform code I should be able to parse over but I'll let you know as I go.  My goal for this is to be able to import as much of the old inform code as possible without the writers having to rewrite anything they have already written.

Third for all you coders out there.  I've thrown this project on github here for you to look at and admire.  If anyone is good at html5 and could help with getting the window to auto reconfigure to the screen message me on github or email me or something.  The first time I've touched html5/javascript/css was last Thursday and honestly my time is better spent on the logic.  That's harder, more important, and what I'm better at.  Also If you see anything that I'm doing which is bad convention please let me know because again I'm very inexperienced with these languages.

Finally I have the actual game for you to try out yourself.  If you want to try it out download the game from here. Then just extract and double click on www/index.html and it should run.  Most likely there are some bugs so if you find any please in descending priority: log it on github, email me, or leave a comment here.  I'm sure the bugs are there so happy hunting.  Also If you have any suggestions on the engine so far please comment and I'll try to respond to you.

My next update will hopefully be a huge one.  I feel like I'm close to actually importing the old code, so the next time I post I will probably have all the locations/npcs in the game but what level of interaction I'm not sure yet.

Engine Work

We have acquired a player of the game to start work on the new engine and they're making great strides towards an engine of our very own. Have some screenshots! For less than a day's effort, they're off to a hot start. They are already aware the money doesn't actually exist until April after Patreon fees fire, but they're eager to get going.
